Horror Movie? Vampire Monster Flick? Indestructible Vigilante Hitman Movie? He Never Died is all of those things and none of them.
I like obscure horror flicks, but this is more of a character study. The character study of an introverted monster. Henry Rollins is superb. Every line he has is delivered with a precise candor that is so deadpan it’s hilarious, not in a sarcastic way though but in an Asperger’s way. Jack’s story is darkly comedic, sad and lonely and endless. There are some savage parts in the film, but not many, and Rollins’ Jack is easy to empathize with and have sympathy for. The soundtrack is kick-ass too.
